  To be qualified as a Certified Family Law Specialist in California, an attorney is subject to the strict requirements of the California Board of Legal Specialization, which include passing a written exam, 5 years of practice, a peer review, and ongoing educational requirements in family law. 
  
  
• Collaborative Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce) Professional:
  Collaborative divorce involves a non-adversarial, team approach to the divorce process. Team members can include mental health professionals called "coaches," child specialists, neutral financial consultants, and lawyers. All parties agree to work together to help divorcing couples resolve issues, such as custody, support, and division of property, in a less costly, less stressful, and non-adversarial manner.
  
  
• Litigation Experience:
  While going to court is not always desirable, it is sometimes necessary. Mr. Wasserson is an experienced dissolution of marriage (divorce) trial lawyer, and can take a case from its inception through the appeals courts, and often takes cases on referral from trial attorneys who do not do appellate work.

  The Hague Convention is an international treaty designed to protect against international child abduction, and governs problems of jurisdiction that arise in international child custody cases.
